One of the cliche conversations that I once had in my head has been of some use occasionally. It goes like this:

I’m talking to a mysterious person and I’m complaining about how nothing ever meets my expectations. He holds up a hand to interrupt me.

“Listen,” he says, “I’m going to share the secret of happiness with you. Not everything is supposed to be beautiful.”

“I know,” I reply meekly.
