The first raindrops of the season fell yesterday amidst the sweltering heat. Maybe it had rained a few days back too. But these were the first drops worthy of noticing. Nature made me notice. With a sudden gust of wet wind the weak hostel windows flew open and rain came in, drenching my boiling hot laptop in the process. I couldn’t get mad. How could I?
For the world was yellow, and a brilliant shade at that! A brief dream that had escaped into reality perhaps? I found myself staring in awed disbelief. It was real. The yellow ether flowed in, in gigantic quantities and illuminated the dingy room with magnificent hues. How I wished I had a camera then. Could I have captured it and preserved it forever? I’ll never know.
I lay on my bed later, contemplating on the rare dreams it gave me and the ones around me, in this lonely place far away from everywhere. But all the brilliance had faded, the world had turned back to normal, sedating the briefly stirred minds back to sleep.
Your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones,
Turn into something beautiful,
You know, you know I love you so.
I swam across, I jumped across for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
Cause you were all yellow.
